Velan, A Nuclear Valve Pioneer

As a leading contributor to the development of valve technologies for the nuclear industry, A.K. Velan was recently asked to contribute to Valve World's just released "Focus on Nuclear Power Generation Issue". Since its beginning in 1950, Velan has worked with the nuclear power generating industry to innovate and improve valve technologies for the world’s nuclear power plants, marine propulsion and other steam driven systems. Over the years, the industry, and the technologies used by the industry, have evolved and changed, however, the same fundamental principle of safety and reliability has always been at the core of the developments. Over the same period, Velan has remained an integral supplier to the industry, having supplied valves to over 300 nuclear
power stations – 2/3 of the world’s operating units – including stations currently under construction in mainland China and Taiwan. Velan, someone who has devoted a large part of his life to its development.
