 Velan
is pleased to introduce Velan S.r.l., a joint venture company
established to manufacture API 6A & 6D Trunnion-Mounted
Ball Valves for pipelines and offshore platforms. The new
company is headquartered in a 40,000 sq. ft. (3,700 m2)
office and plant in Mezzago, Italy, just outside of Milan.
Velan is, of course, already an experienced ball valve manufacturer,
and has been manufacturing API 6D ball valves in North America
for the oil and gas industry for many years. In fact, Velan
has held the API 6D Monogram for ball valves since 1993.
The establishment of a new company in Milan enables us to
expand our current product line and offer one of the most comprehensive
ball valve lines available from any manufacturer.

 Velan
has begun to ship Securaseal Severe Service Metal-Seated Ball
Valves for the Rio Tuba Nickel HPP Project, in the Philippines.
The new plant, scheduled for comissioning in Summer 2004,
will process low-grade nickel oxide ore to produce intermediary
nickel products using the High Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL)
method developed by Sumitomo Metal Mining. In all, Velan will
supply over 150 severe-service metal-seated ball valves in
Titanium, Super Duplex SST and Alloy 20. Velan's Securaseal
Type N Metal-Seated Ball Valve is a mining industry veteran,
trusted for many of the most severe mining applications.
