Passionate about prototype development and new technologies, the Program Manager, Fugitive Emission and Sealing Technologies will interface with Marketing, Engineering and other departments to manage valve sealing technology programs, as well as oversee all aspects of associated development projects. This role being centered on driving innovation forward in the company, you have a strong technical R&D background, natural leadership, and excellent cross-functional communication skills.Main functions
Manage sealing technology programs
- Direct the development of sealing technology by updating roadmaps (program/projects) in order to achieve company goals
- Interface with Marketing, operations and engineering departments to align sealing technology roadmaps with their vision and requirements
- Participate in scheduled steering team meetings (monthly) to interact with all stake holders and update on sealing technology development progress
- Schedule and lead required technical meetings (weekly) to manage sealing technology development
- Use Velan’s established system to manage the sealing technology program/projects (i.e., Plan, Execution, Monitoring, and Control of the projects for schedule, resources and deliverables.)
- Keep current of industry trends and standards E.g. API 624, API 641, API 598, ISO-15848-1, etc.
- Identify new innovation opportunities, based on return on experience
- Maintain and develop partnerships with key suppliers, lead-users and outside laboratories or universities.
- Support marketing/advertising in transforming technical data into marketable data
Oversee all aspects of associated mechanical laboratory experiments
- Based on established sealing technology programs and projects, design and oversee all aspects of mechanical laboratory experiments. This includes planning and procurement of required equipment, test parts and consumables
- Assign and supervise work of lab technicians
- Participate in all aspects of experiment setup and execution to gain required personal knowledge of sealing technology
- Analyze collected data, and determine significant conclusions and next step forward
- Write test procedures and test reports
- Complete assigned work within time and budget constraints
Requirements
- Program / project management skills and experience
- Mechanical laboratory technology development skills and experience
- Sound management and technical judgment
- Capable of overseeing several projects at a time
- Fluency in English & French (oral and written)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
OIQ eligibility and technical knowledge of valve sealing technology (including fugitive emissions) is considered an asset, however the primary requirements for this position are the candidate’s capabilities as a technology program manager and laboratory technology developer.
