Job Description

Under the Plant Manager’s authority, the candidate elaborates, facilitates and takes part in continuous improvement projects pertaining to the equipment, the tools, the manufacturing processes, and the products. As a change agent, one foster an environment that promotes continuous improvement.
 
Main responsibilities:
 
  • Act as the site champion for continuous improvement through the application and facilitation of Lean & Six Sigma methodology, including process measurement and analysis, process improvement identification, planning, execution and control.
  • Facilitate and organize workshops/problem solving teams to achieve breakthrough in process performance by applying typical Lean techniques (i.e., Value Stream Mapping, Charting Measurement, 5S, safety, etc.)
  • Analyze and continuously review the current production processes and methodology employed by Velan. Work with plant leadership team to identify & create project plans to continuously improve production efficiency, safety, quality, costs and plant capacity.
  • Collaborate with CI peers at other Velan plant locations to share best practices and establish standardization of initiative implementations across all sites
  • Support plant leadership in maintaining operational metrics for the site.
  • Responsible for maintaining all work process SOP’s within the production sphere, including flow and coordination of production materials.
  • Target, analyze and assess the feasibility and the profitability of improvement projects.
  • Determine important control parameters in production; build practices and procedures in order to ensure control of the process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Black belt or Green belt preferred
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing Concepts, 5’s, safety, problem solving, Kaizen teams, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to listen and communicate with team members at all levels.
  • Strong operational and project management skills / leadership experience required.
  • Proven ability to drive change and act as change catalyst for the site.
