Within the programming team, the Tool Designer is responsible to design jigs and of choices of tools and special-purpose machines to produce different parts and valves assembly. He contributes to the planning of fabrication routes for a heightened productivity.Main responsibilities:
- Read and analyze technical specifications, engineering drawings, bills of material and working instructions
- Design jigs for the safe production of parts, tools and special-purpose machines in CATIA V5
- Ensure that jigs are standardized for all types of machines at Velan
- Select the appropriate material for these designs
- Contact suppliers and subcontractors
- Assist production in the implementation of projects
- Generate clear and accurate documentation necessary for valve realization
- Ensure that the production of fixtures is effortless and efficient
- Simulate the machining and the assembly of components, using the assisted conception software CATIA to evaluate the validity of their processes
Requirements
- Technical College degree in mechanical engineering or in another related field
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in tool design for conventional, automated and CNC machines, utilizing a computer aided design system
- Knowledge of CATIA V5
- Good knowledge of Code-G language and MS Office (Word, Excel)
- Solid understanding of machining processes and techniques
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of French and English (written and spoken)
