Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, procurement operations, you will be responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials.

 

More precisely, he/she will be responsible to:

  • Prepares RFQ’s and purchase orders for a given category of parts.
  • Processes requisitions for materials, researches products, clarifies specifications, documents competitive bidding, creates purchase orders.
  • Negotiates requirements for pre-production samples, spare parts, and customized technical literature.
  • Facilitates and ensures the steady progress through completion of a project by the efficient movement of materials, freight, etc. within our systems.
  • Ensures that the required goods arrive on the appointed date, location, and meet the quality requirements.
  • Ensures rigorous order tracking, expediting, and makes special arrangements for delivery; communicates order status to the Project Management team.
  • Develops and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, evaluates vendor performance, utilizes different vendor sources to fill as directed.
  • Deals with vendors and manufacturers, which often involves persuading potential vendors to undertake the manufacture of custom-designed items according to complex and rigid specifications.
  • Maintains tracking system for controlling open order changes, and supplier performance (OTD, ADL, Quality).
  • Actions supplier quality deviations.
  • Maintains an excellent working relationship with other departments such as planning, quality, production, engineering and Project Management.

Requirements

  • College studies diploma in Procurement Management.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years related buying experience with an (OEM) Original Equipment Manufacturer, ideally within the valve or pressure vessel industry, machined components, forgings, castings and fasteners.
  • Knowledge of machining and ability to understand drawings and specifications is key.
  • Experience within MRP and Microsoft Office environment.
  • Good knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with material specifications such as ASTM.
  • Organizational skills, ability to manage priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Takes initiative.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
  • Be persistent, autonomous and resourceful
