Job Description

Mandate

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Global Proposals, the incumbent is responsible for efficiently providing application engineering services to inquiring customers and to quotation/bid, after-market, and field engineering services teams, all while ensuring that sound engineering principles, practices and procedures are respected.
 
More specifically, the incumbent mainly provides support to the Project Strategic Business Unit team responsible of quotations, and to the Maintenance Repair Overhaul team responsible of after-sales services.

Key Responsibilities

 
  • Answer customer inquiries and technical specifications in his or her competencies area through thorough review, evaluation, and clarification processes that allow the identification of technical factors that may affect cost, delivery, and ability to conform.
 
  • Deliver relevant and effective solutions to customers by coordinating with internal and external resources.
  • Select, size and price valves and actuators that conform to customers’ requirements.
 
  • Prepare and issue actuator ordering documents at time of order entry.
 
  • Ensure positive customer experience to all stakeholders by proactively communicating regular updates, clarifications, and/or any relevant information.
 
  • Observe trends to help identify improvement areas in the various processes.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or the equivalent.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an engineer.
  • 1 to 3 year(s) of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in the selection of mechanical equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, pipes and fittings, etc. is an asset.
  • Experience in inside sales or customer-service in industrial products is an asset.

Knowledge
 
  • Fluency in English (oral and written).
  • Fluency in French, Spanish, Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset (oral and written).
  • Strong knowledge of Word and Excel programs.
  • Basic knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems and configure price quote (CPQ).
  • Basic knowledge of valve selection and American Society Mechanical Engineer codes is an asset.
