Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, procurement operations, you will be responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials, at the right price and meeting the technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare quotations and purchase orders for parts.
  • Processes requisitions for supplies, researches products, clarifies specifications, documents competitive bidding, types purchase orders.
  • Negotiates requirements for pre-production samples, spare parts, customized technical literature.
  • Facilitates and ensure the steady progress to completion of a project by the efficient movement of materials, freight, etc. within our systems.
  • Ensures that the required goods arrive at the appointed date in the agreed quality at the agreed location.
  • Rigorous order tacking, expediting and delivery of orders, and makes special arrangements for delivery; communicates order status to the Project Management.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, evaluate vendor performance, utilizes different vendor sources to fill as directed.
  • Deals with vendors and manufacturers, which often involves persuading potential vendors to undertake the manufacture of custom-designed items according to complex and rigid specifications.
  • Maintain tracking system for controlling open order changes, and supplier ODT.
  • Action supplier deviations.
  • Anticipate and manage risks.
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with other departments such as planning, quality, production engineering and Project Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or operations management.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years related buying experience with an (OEM) Original Equipment Manufacturer, ideally, machined components, forgings, castings and fasteners.
  • Knowledge of machining and ability to understand drawings and specifications is key.
  • Experience within MRP and Microsoft Office environment.
  • Good knowledge of Word and Excel Familiar with material specifications such as ASTM.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Good organizational skills with an ability to manage priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Takes initiative.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
  • Persistent, autonomous and resourceful.
