Job Description

Within the Finance department, also responsible for corporate development and mergers and acquisitions, the Analyst, reporting to the Senior Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, supports the budgeting processes, produces reports and makes forecasts related to the company's cash flow generation.

Main functions
  • With the goal of providing meaningful information that can support tactical and strategic decisions, support Finance, Planning and Analysis (FP&A) teams in performing detailed financial modeling and analysis for business cases, projects and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain forecasting and budgeting models for various business units and management teams as well as maintain close collaboration with them to ensure accuracy and cost precision in these models.
  • Analyze the financial results and performance of the company and its various business units, investigate variances to understand the causes and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (including adherence to budget and forecasts), highlighting relevant risks and opportunities.
  • Analyze business results and clearly identify and summarize key issues.
  • Prepare monthly reports and analysis for business partners that include analysis of variances in spending against budget and forecast in addition to ad hoc requests.
  • Present monthly financial results, forecasts and key performance indicators to business partners, including the executive team for the purpose of providing information and subsequent follow-up on the information provided.
  • Collaborate with accounting to understand the financial impact of accounting entries and policy choices on operational results.
  • Develop financial models to calculate the profitability of a project.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify new deal opportunities and collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to gather key information.

Requirements

This position requires the Control Goods Program clearance.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, with a major in finance or accounting.
Experience
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role (financial analysis, corporate accounting, cost accounting).
Knowledge and Competencies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent financial and accounting knowledge, as well as a very good understanding of cash flow, financial modeling and valuation.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of Cognos TM1 (an asset).
  • Ability to handle pressure.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a high-volume business environment.
