Production Supervisor

Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the overall performance (health, safety, quality, productivity) of multiple manufacturing cells. More specifically, the incumbent is responsible for producing, in a safe working environment, a product that meets customer requirements, ensuring that the quality system is applied, respecting production deadlines, ensuring compliance with the collective agreement, and promoting continual improvement. In addition, the Supervisor manages unionized operators.

Primary responsibilities: 
  • Ensure compliance with safe work procedures and apply corrective measures when required.
  • Review quality issues and participate in the implementation of corrective actions. 
  • Organize and distribute work according to planning and operational priorities and monitor progress. 
  • Communicate expectations and mobilize employees to achieve objectives. 
  • Analyze performance indicators such as OEE and delays on the production schedule and address the situation by applying the necessary corrective actions. 
  • Maintain a positive work climate by motivating, stimulating, and encouraging the employees under his responsibility to develop their skills and to take initiatives within their role. 
  • Ensure that employees are properly trained and evaluate their performance on an ongoing basis. 
  • Contribute to the implementation of any measure that could have positive effects on operations, whether to increase outputs and productivity, reduce wasted time and costs, etc. 
  • Make the necessary improvements to ensure profitability and efficiency of the team. 
  • Support the Operations Manager in his/her mandates.
  • Facilitate regular production meetings and support daily cell stand-up communications.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:
  • High school diploma or GED.  College degree or technical diploma preferred, but not required
  • At least 5 years' experience leading people in a manfuacturing setting, preferably unionized
  • Knowledge of cellular manufacturing
  • Experience with and knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing principles
  • Comfortable with MS Office
This is a dynamic role which requires problem-solving, team-building, and a positive attitude.  

Must be authorized to work in the United States to be considered.
