Important structural changes at Velan

2016/02/12
Dear business partners:

This is to inform you of some important changes that I am bringing to the mandate of some members of Velan’s management team.

First, a key milestone in our company’s history: Ivan Velan has decided to reduce his work scope, and we both agreed that he would continue as Special Advisor to the President.  Ivan will lead key projects, share his wealth of experience in supporting the management team, and continue representing the company with our customers and in the industry.

Martin Allen joined Velan’s management team on February 1 as our new EVP Manufacturing Operations and Global Supply Chain. Martin has had a terrific career in both supply chain management and manufacturing operations at BRP and Bombardier Transport.

Rob Velan becomes VP Customer Services and Distribution. In addition to his current responsibilities with respect to North American distribution, Rob will take on quotations for all product lines, sales administration (both for North America and Exports), and after-market sales. Additionally, our new Valve Project Management (VPM) team will also report to Rob. Rob’s mandate is to regroup all these functions to improve our agility in responding to customer requests for quotations and in our delivery performance.

Dan Velan becomes VP Marketing and Product Strategy. Dan will carry out the important task of launching the new product management organization, deploying a five-year product strategy roadmap, leading a new corporate market planning function, and steering, along with Wolfgang Maar, the development of effective go-to-market plans for key target markets. The creation of this high-performing product management department is a vital piece of our growth strategy.

Wolfgang Maar becomes EVP Global Sales and Overseas Operations. As such, he adds North American outside sales to his current responsibilities. The purpose of reuniting all the sales teams under one global responsibility is to leverage best practices and the expertise of our teams, and to increase collaboration between regions.

Shane Velan becomes Director, Strategic Planning and Information Technology. Shane joined us last May as head of strategic planning and is responsible for the Breakthrough Office. As modernizing our IT systems will form a key part of our strategic plan, I have decided to add Information Technology as well as process optimization and automation to his existing responsibilities.

The roles and responsibilities of the other members of my management team remain unchanged. As for Stephen Cherlet, his new role will be announced when he is ready to come back from his temporary leave.

The above changes are all designed to address our number one priority: to serve our customers better. I know that together we will accomplish remarkable things in the months to come.

Yves Leduc
President, Velan
