Job Description

The product analyst provides a crucial support to the product management team’s responsibilities in strategy, marketing, pricing and sales support. It represents a great opportunity to be active at the very core of product strategy, learn advanced analytical methods to make data-driven decisions in the dynamic team that the product management team constitutes. More specifically, he/she will be responsible to:
Market research and analysis
  • Review, recognize and communicate key market trends
  • Support in benchmarking the company’s or products’ performance with leading market indicators as well as competitors’ performance
  • Suggest market review process requirements and improvements
  • Support in the creation of business plans to justify product roadmaps, including market sizing
Product strategy
  • Prepare competitors analyses and help maintain a database
  • Analyse the product line profitability per different dimensions, e.g. market, application, customer category, etc.
  • Develop new or updated price lists following the product manager’s guidance
  • Create summary visualizations and reports
  • At ease and self-sufficient when identifying sources, gathering and joining data from multiple sources 
  • Publish easily understandable analyses with direct connections to the appropriate databases
  • Help the identification and operationalization of appropriate KPIs for corporate and project objectives
  • Develop analytical work flows enabling business users to push the boundary of their analytical abilities
  • Document analytical processes and provide basic training to other business users
In addition to market research and product strategy, the analyst may provide analytical support in any other area under the responsibility of the product manager. This can include close collaboration with data scientists. This makes this role particularly interesting as the candidate will get exposure to complex, cross-functional challenges and to the resolution processes. Two typical career paths are available to the product analyst, depending on interest and strengths: (1) business path, and (2) the data science path.


  • Bachelor in Commerce, Mathematics, Economics or Computer Science 
  • Master’s degree (or specialization) in analytics or data science (an asset)
  • 0-5 years of experience in a similar function or with similar responsibilities
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Ability to program in R, SQL, or Python
  • Experience in analytics in a business environment (an asset)
  • Comfortable with simple statistics, including multivariate regressions
  • Knowledge of common analytical tools, e.g. R, Tableau, Power BI
