Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Project Management, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for the planning and execution of a specific portfolio of managed projects (complex/high risk valve orders). For each project, he/she will lead an assigned cross-functional team and ensure that the project will be completed on time, as per customer and cost commitments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and oversee the execution of valve projects through assigned cross-function teams.
- Establish a Project Charter for each approved project, define project goals, objectives, risks, assumptions and staffing.
- Ensure the integrated project plan is well aligned and sound; address project plan disconnects.
- Prepare first kickoff meeting and build cross-functional project teams.
- Assess overall project health status and initiate corrective/mitigation actions and/or escalate when required.
- Manage project activities throughout the lifecycle, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, budget and other factors necessary for success.
- Plan all project timelines, milestones, deliverables and micro-deliverables using ERP system.
- Chair weekly project reviews.
- Get involved upfront in the process of order commitment-making.
- Manage customer relationships and address escalated items related to the customer such as requirements clarity, deliverables and inspections attendance.
- Conduct stakeholder meetings in order to solicit feedback, input and expectations; incorporate these into project plans.
- Closely monitor the efforts of SPOCs.
- Identify and resolve conflicts within project teams and associate work; create contingency plans to mitigate risk.
Requirements
- University degree in Operation Management or Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience including 3 in project management is required.
- PMP Certification (an asset).
- Strong knowledge of ERP system, MS Office and of project management tools/concepts.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English and French.
- Ability to work under pressure and assess corporate climate, social-economic factors, trends and other criteria to determine chances of project success.
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities in deadlines.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with business units, corporate departments, keys manager and other stakeholders.
