Reporting to the Director, Procurement, the Manager, Procurement Operations, will lead a team of Buyers responsible to ensure material availability to the various manufacturing sites of Velan North America. He (she) will be responsible for the management of all supplier purchase orders, ensure the material is purchased in accordance with company policies and ensure that the supplier products will be delivered in accordance with the manufacturing schedule requirements. He will be focused on supplier performance and procurement best practices
Main functions
§ Implement Procurement strategies, policies and procedures aligned with the corporate strategic orientation
§ Supervise material, parts and supplies orders as negotiated and approved
§ Manage Purchase orders in accordance with defined terms and conditions
§ Manage supplier relationships
§ Oversee freight and logistics, optimizing use of freight and transportation solutions
§ Provide on-going input on process improvements and implement approved changes in a timely manner
§ Coordinates his efforts with manufacturing, planning and warehouse management to maintain the appropriate levels of inventor
Requirements
· Bachelors in Business Administration, Operation Management or equivalent
· Experience of seven (7) years in a similar role managing a team (Candidates possessing similar experience and qualifications will also be considered)
· Knowledge of Procurement best practices
· Experience in multi-site manufacturing environment
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
· Available to travel occasionally, locally and internationally
· Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and ERP systems (BAAN an asset)
· Ability to work under pressure
