Velan supports the Enbridge® Ride to Conquer Cancer® for the third year in a row.

For the third year in a row Velan is supporting the Enbridge® Ride to Conquer Cancer®. Over one amazing weekend, July 9-10, 2016, Team Velan will be cycling 230 kilometers from Montreal to Quebec City through the beautiful Quebec countryside along the Saint Lawrence River.
There is little doubt that the time for action is now. Gil Perez, co-captain of Team Velan (and VP Engineering at Velan), states, “Cancer has unfortunately affected most of us in one way or another. The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer has successfully raised millions of dollars that fund breakthrough research and development and provide care to patients. Team Velan have supported this ride over the past two years and now would like to invite you to join us to embrace it personally.”
Last year, thanks to the generosity of so many, Team Velan, with significant financial help from Velan, raised $81,155, and the 1,347 riders of the Ride event collectively raised $4.9 million. Over the past two years, our supporters have enabled Team Velan to consistently surpass its goals for The Ride: In 2014, 17 riders from the company raised $52,815; in 2015, 23 riders raised $81,155; and in 2016 our goal is to raise $85,000!
As co-captain Mark Robinson, Velan’s Total Process Improvement Coordinator, says “The Ride to Conquer Cancer® is an event that I hold dear to my heart. We have all been touched in some way by this terrible disease. Please consider supporting Team Velan in this epic event. I promise, you won’t regret it: The work they do is life changing!”
The Jewish General Hospital’s Segal Cancer Centre is one of a few in the world which offers a combination of strong research and highly skilled clinicians under one roof. Their world-leading doctors, researchers and scientists are working to develop new technologies in the areas of molecular diagnostics, functional imaging, biomarkers, molecular target discovery and validation, and advanced targeted radiation therapy. Because every patient is unique, every patient’s cancer is different. Funds raised through The Ride are enabling the researchers, scientists, and doctors at the Segal Cancer Center to better understand the unique genes of each cancer and each patient, which is leading to more effective, targeted, and less toxic treatments for cancer patients in Quebec and around the world.
